LaRose Issues Statement on SB 107, Legislation to Improve Transparency in Local Elections

COLUMBUS - Today, Secretary of State Frank LaRose issued a statement regarding legislation introduced by State Senator Michael Rulli that will enhance transparency by allowing campaign finance reports for local candidates to be filed electronically with county boards of elections.

“It's 2019. Campaign finance reports for local candidates should be easily searchable and available online. Senator Rulli is right to get this bill into gear and provide interested citizens, journalists, activists and academics the opportunity to more easily review who is contributing to campaigns,” said LaRose.

A similar bill sponsored by LaRose when he served in the State Senate was unanimously passed by the Ohio Senate at the end of last year’s General Assembly.
