RELEASE: LaRose Statement About New Directive on Provisional Ballots for Individuals Impacted by Ohio's Supplemental Process

By taking the initiative to resolve this litigation, Secretary LaRose is providing Ohio voters with the confidence they need to know their vote counts.

As part of an effort to end longstanding litigation regarding Ohio’s supplemental process, Secretary LaRose has taken the affirmative steps to issue Directive 2019-04 -- materially similar to the court ordered directives that were issued starting with the 2016 general election and expiring upon completion of the 2018 election. This directive sets forth the criteria for how Boards of Elections are required to determine the eligibility of a provisional ballot cast during the in-person early voting period or on election day by an individual who is not registered to vote in Ohio.
