COLUMBUS – Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose gave the keynote address at a naturalization ceremony held at the Ohio Statehouse for 219 new Americans from 54 different countries. LaRose encouraged all in attendance to perform their civic duty to register to vote and have their voice heard in the November election.
“You all who had to work for your citizenship recognize how precious it is, and you recognize that citizenship comes with both rights and responsibilities,” said LaRose. “One of those responsibilities is the opportunity to be a registered voter.”
Presiding over the formal court hearing was the Honorable Algenon L. Marbley, Chief United District Judge. Deputy Clerk of Courts Betty Clark administered the oath.
