Working To Be Ready for November
This week the Ohio House passed HB 680, a bill aimed to better prepare Ohio for the November general election and, if made law, will ensure Ohioans continue to have access to in-person, absentee, and early voting options. The legislation is sponsored by State Representative Cindy Abrams (R-Harrison) and will now move on to the Ohio Senate for consideration. Watch this message from Secretary LaRose for more info:
Ready for November Task Force
To ensure Ohio is prepared for the election this fall, LaRose announced the formation of the Ready for November Task Force. The mission of the task force is to provide updates from the field on the challenges and needs of our county boards of elections to administer a safe, secure, and accessible election, and how the state can help support their efforts. The board's members include officers from the Ohio Association of Election Officials and Secretary LaRose. Watch the full meeting here.
Partnering with Minority Community Leaders to Combat Disinformation
The Ohio Latino Affairs Commission virtually hosted their annual Agenda Latina conference digitally this year. Secretary LaRose joined to give a briefing on combatting misinformation and disinformation in minority communities ahead of the November general election. Cleveland Clergy Coalition
The Secretary was asked to join members of the Cleveland Clergy Coalition on their weekly phone call to discuss the current protests and discuss the powerful impact voting can have in their community.
The Secretary was able to make another stop on the #CincinnatiChiliTrail during a day of meetings in Southwest Ohio. He was joined at Price Hill Chili by Chip Gherhardt and Alex Triantafilou, election officials from the Hamilton County Board of Elections and Representative Abrams, the sponsor of HB 680.
