Growing Opportunities for the Business Community

Today, Secretary LaRose visited the Youngstown Business Incubator (YBI) to discuss the Women in Entrepreneurship and Youth Entrepreneurship programs and the Minority Business Assistance Center at the YBI. The Incubator is doing great things for the Mahoning Valley business community, such as providing educational, mentoring, and networking opportunities to women and youth entrepreneurs. Secretary LaRose spent time learning about their resources and sharing what his office is doing to help the business community grow.

Earlier this week, Secretary LaRose testified to the Senate Finance Committee about our proposed office budget. LaRose highlighted our fiscal responsibility while maintaining Ohio's role as a national leader in elections and entrepreneurship.

The Ohio State University President Kristina Johnson and Secretary LaRose met this week to talk about boosting student civic participation.

Secretary LaRose is a board member for Kids Voting Ohio, an organization that focuses on expanding civics education in the school systems throughout the state. This week Secretary LaRose spoke to the board about growing his youth initiatives -- Youth at the Booth & Grad Votes. Both of these programs encourage high school students to be more civically engaged.

The Secretary met with local business and elected leaders with the Westerville Chamber of Commerce to discuss economic development in the Columbus suburb.

Delaware Sheriff Russell Martin and Secretary LaRose met this week to discuss election security and the Safe at Home program.

The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber held its fourth annual Columbus drive-in day where Secretary LaRose came to speak with community leaders from the Mahoning Valley about his 2021 legislative priorities and Ohio's successful 2020 election.

Secretary LaRose spoke at the Kiwanis Club of Findlay’s monthly meeting about the accomplishments and lessons learned from the 2020 November General Election.

Secretary LaRose joined the Cleveland American Middle East Organization (C.A.M.E.O.) to discuss his legislative and community outreach priorities as we enter a new election cycle.

While in the Mahoning Valley, Secretary LaRose met with several Columbiana County elected officials about the importance of combating HR 1.

The Baptist Pastor Council of Youngstown & Vicinity hosted a roundtable discussion this week to discuss voting rights and Secretary LaRose’s efforts to improve opportunities for minority business owners.
