Secretary LaRose Launches Redesigned Website, Data Portal During Sunshine Week
New OhioSoS.gov Updates Offer Enhanced Transparency, Accessibility, and Security Ahead of May Election
(Columbus) — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced today the launch of a more streamlined, modern, and user-friendly website and comprehensive data portal to better serve Ohio voters and entrepreneurs.
“Our office is committed to transparency and accessibility, and Ohioans rely on our website to start a new business, register to vote, get accurate information about elections, and more,” said Secretary LaRose. “A major part of that effort is ensuring that important election data collected by our office is readily available to the public so they can have confidence in the integrity of our democratic process.”
New website upgrades focus on delivering transparency and accessibility and feature the latest cybersecurity standards. This is the first major modernization of the website in more than 15 years and creates a strong technology foundation – adaptable for the future and able to grow with future administrations. With an average of 30,000 website visits per day and up to 22 million users annually worldwide, clear navigation is a key component of the redesign.
Transparency: A new data transparency portal shines a light on elections, new business growth, and other Secretary of State functions.
Accessibility: With a streamlined format and adherence to the latest Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards, the website is more accessible and user-friendly than prior versions and puts Ohio at the national forefront of ADA accessibility.
Security: The website features industry-leading cybersecurity defenses to protect against malicious intrusions, both foreign and domestic.
This new launch coincides with Sunshine Week (March 15–21), a nationwide initiative that promotes open government and the public’s right to access information about how government operates. Under Secretary LaRose’s administration, the office implemented several key initiatives to modernize and foster transparency.
