Secretary LaRose Celebrates 135 Years of ACME Fresh Market During Visit to Medina Location

MEDINA, Ohio — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose recently visited the newest ACME Fresh Market location in Medina, where he presented company leaders with the original articles of incorporation filed with the State of Ohio when the business was founded 135 years ago.
Founded in 1891, ACME Fresh Market has grown into one of Northeast Ohio’s most recognizable family-owned grocery chains while maintaining its commitment to local communities, Ohio workers, and customer service.
“Ohio’s economy is strongest when family-owned businesses put down roots, invest in communities, and create opportunities for future generations,” said Secretary Frank LaRose. “For 135 years, ACME Fresh Market has served Ohio families with integrity and hard work, and it’s an honor to present the Albrecht family with this piece of their company’s history as they continue growing here in Medina.”
The Medina location represents ACME Fresh Market’s continued expansion in Northeast Ohio and brings new jobs, investment, and convenient access to fresh food and household goods for Medina County residents. The store officially opened in 2025 following years of planning and development on the south side of Medina.
During the visit, Secretary LaRose toured the new store, met with employees and community leaders, and discussed the important role Ohio businesses play in strengthening local economies and supporting working families.
