COLUMBUS — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced today the launch of new online resources designed to help Ohio students learn about elections, civic engagement, entrepreneurship, and the virtues of active citizenship.

The new student-focused resources bring together interactive activities, educational tools and programs from the Secretary of State’s office and partner organizations in one convenient location.

“We want young Ohioans to understand that they don’t have to wait until adulthood to start thinking about how they can make a difference,” said Secretary LaRose. “Whether it’s learning how our elections work, becoming an engaged citizen or dreaming up their first business, these resources are about giving the next generation the tools and inspiration to get started.”

Features include:

  • Start Up Squad: Encourages young Ohioans to explore entrepreneurship, develop their own business ideas and create a personalized, printable business certificate. Students can also access educational resources from Junior Achievement.

  • Future Voter ICivics Games: Interactive civics games and activities help students learn about elections, government and the importance of civic participation.

  • Become a Civics Superstar: Students can test their knowledge of U.S. civics while learning more about the rights and responsibilities of citizenship. Test your knowledge with an online quiz inspired by the official USCIS Citizenship Test!

  • Resources for Teachers: Educators can access information and materials to introduce students to voter registration, elections and opportunities to serve as Election Day poll workers. The Secretary of State’s Grads Vote initiative sends more than 150,000 voter information packets annually to graduating Ohio seniors.

  • Ohio Activity Book for Kids: Puzzles, games, coloring pages and other activities provide younger Ohioans with a fun, interactive way to learn more about the Buckeye State.

  • Printable Education and Recognition Materials: Many resources can be printed for classroom or at-home use, including customizable certificates to recognize and celebrate student achievements.

The new resources build on the Secretary of State’s ongoing efforts to make election and business information more accessible to Ohioans, and in particular, young Ohioans.

"For many kids, the political process may seem mean, confusing, or sometimes downright scary," added LaRose. "This website will be a great space filled with positive content about getting engaged in their community by participating in democracy and starting a business."
