COLUMBUS — Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose was recently named one of “The 25 Leaders Protecting Ohio’s Digital Future” by Ohio Tech News and OhioX, recognizing his leadership in strengthening cybersecurity and embracing emerging technology to make government more secure, efficient and responsive.

Cyber25 recognizes leaders across government, business and education who are strengthening Ohio’s cybersecurity and protecting the critical systems Ohioans rely on. Ohio Tech News specifically recognized LaRose for making innovation “a cornerstone of better government” through the adoption of modern technology, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and blockchain solutions.

“Technology is changing the world around us, and government has an obligation to keep pace,” said Secretary LaRose. “That means protecting our systems from emerging threats while responsibly embracing new tools that can make government more secure, efficient and accountable to the taxpayers we serve.”

The announcement comes days after LaRose authored an op-ed for Ohio Tech News calling on Ohio to lead the artificial intelligence revolution. LaRose argues that AI can help government drive efficiency, identify waste, reduce bureaucracy, improve transparency and allow public employees to spend more time on work requiring human judgment and interaction. He also urges policymakers to begin preparing now for the broader workforce and fiscal impacts of AI.

“Ohio has always been a state of innovators,” LaRose wrote. “The artificial intelligence revolution is happening faster than we know, and Ohio can either lead it or be led by it.”
