Election Work Continues: Ohio’s 88 county boards of elections continue working after Election Day, processing valid Military and Overseas Ballots and adjudicating provisional ballots. Counties may begin the Official Canvass on May 10 and complete it no later than May 26. The final step is a thorough post-election audit of the hard-copy paper ballots.

Secretary LaRose spent time with members of the Ohio media this week helping spread the word about the May 5 election. The Secretary highlighted Ohio’s trusted election process and assured voters that unofficial election results would be made available on election night thanks to the hard work of Ohio’s county boards of elections and elections officials across the state.
The U.S. Small Business Administration celebrated its 2026 awards ceremony honoring Ohio’s outstanding small businesses and community leaders. Secretary LaRose spoke at the event, thanking business owners for serving as pillars of their communities and helping make Ohio a great place to start and grow a business.
The Ohio Secretary of State’s Election Night Reporting team worked late into the evening to ensure unofficial election results were posted accurately and efficiently on Election Night. After 25 years of service as legal counsel to the Hamilton County Board of Elections, Hamilton County Assistant Prosecutor Dave Stevenson recently retired from his role supporting election administration and the voters of Hamilton County. Deputy Director of Regional Services Kenny Henning presented Mr. Stevenson with a proclamation on behalf of Secretary LaRose in recognition of his years of dedicated public service.
Breast Friends Forever of Champaign County recently celebrated its grand opening, where West Central Regional Liaison Brian Metzbower presented a proclamation on behalf of Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose. The organization’s mission is to provide support, encouragement, and resources to individuals and families affected by breast cancer throughout Champaign County and the surrounding communities.
