July 1 Petition Deadline: The Ohio Secretary of State’s office has confirmed through representatives of the current statewide ballot issue petition efforts that none of them plans to file for the 2026 ballot. The official filing deadline is July 1. As it currently stands, the only issue appearing on the November general election ballot will be the voter identification amendment offered by the General Assembly. According to the Ohio Constitution, these petitions must be submitted 125 days prior to the general election at which the amendment is to be on the ballot. Learn more about the process here.

What is the difference between expedited and regular business filings?

While routine filings are completed very quickly, expedited filings have guaranteed filing times and additional costs, depending on the level of expedited service. Regular filings are filed based on daily production loads and have no additional filing fees.
All business filings EXCEPT preclearance requests, certificate requests, and UCC filings can be expedited. Expedite filings require an additional fee which is stated on the online and paper form itself. Don’t be surprised if our team gets back to you sooner.

History came alive at the Age of Steam Museum's "Steam to Victory" event in Sugarcreek. Secretary LaRose explored the restored steam engines and railroads that helped power America's World War II mobilization, and he even climbed aboard one of the museum's historic locomotives for a ride. The Secretary also delivered remarks in celebration of the opening ceremony.
Secretary LaRose believes what he learned in the scouts laid the foundation for his career in the military and public office. As he has done for many years, Secretary LaRose made his annual trek to Camp Manatoc to help teach the citizenship requirement for the First Class Rank. A great group of leaders and civically engaged future voters!
West Central Regional Liaison Brian Metzbower provided a proclamation to the city of New Albany in celebration of their 50-year anniversary of New Albany Founders Day. The event celebrates the people and organizations that helped build the community.
Eastern Liaison Fiona Ruminski presented a proclamation to Vivian L. Sullivan, General Manager of the Hampton Inn in Niles, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the hotel's recent renovation.

Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose announced recently the continuation of the Ready for November initiative, a nationally recognized statewide effort to train and prepare election officials for the 2026 November General Election.
