A Special Fourth of July Message From Secretary LaRose
Two hundred and fifty years ago, in the sticky heat of a Philadelphia summer day, a group of ordinary citizens gathered inside Independence Hall and changed the course of history. They were merchants, farmers, lawyers, scientists, a printer, and a musician. Together, they declared a bold truth that still guides our nation today: government derives its power from the consent of the governed.
That moment gave birth to the greatest experiment in self-government the world has ever known. For two and a half centuries, generations of Americans have carried that promise forward. Brave men and women have defended it on battlefields across the globe, and many made the ultimate sacrifice so we could live free.
As Ohioans, we take special pride in America’s story. From our small towns, farms, churches, schools, and vibrant urban communities, we have helped build and strengthen this nation.
This week is a time to remember our history, honor our heroes, and celebrate the enduring promise of these United States of America.

Eastern Ohio Regional Liaison Fiona Ruminski presented Siffrin CEO Kristine Willhite with a proclamation to recognize the company’s new all-in-one facility in Perry Township.
Secretary LaRose presented Todd Appelbaum with a proclamation to recognize the opening of Fantasy Claw Arcade at Easton in Columbus. The arcade offers a one-of-a-kind claw machine experience inspired by Japanese culture.

Ohio Mail-in Ballots Unaffected by US Supreme Court Ruling
The U.S. Supreme Court has upheld a Mississippi law that allows a five-day grace period for mail-in ballots that are postmarked by Election Day but arrive up to five days later. However, that ruling won’t have any effect on Ohio’s new law that eliminated a grace period for mail-in ballots.
