Ballot Board Meeting Recap: The bipartisan Ohio Ballot Board voted 4-1 this week to approve ballot language for a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution. Ohio law currently requires voters to present a valid photo ID to vote in-person. If adopted by the voters, the amendment would add that requirement to the Ohio Constitution. Secretary LaRose convened a meeting of the Ohio Ballot Board this week. The bipartisan board voted 4-1 to approve ballot language for Issue 3, a proposed amendment to the Ohio Constitution that would permanently require Ohio voters to present valid photo identification when they vote in person.
Secretary LaRose received a tour of the new Ohio Agricultural Center at the Ohio State Fair. The new facility highlights Ohio’s agricultural industry and features the Taste of Ohio Café, which represents commodity groups from across the state.
Secretary LaRose opened a Columbus Metropolitan Club forum focused on the new Ohio Women’s Monument and the women who have shaped Ohio’s history. He introduced the panelists who discussed the monument’s creation, the artist’s vision and the public-private partnership behind the project. The Secretary emphasized the importance of honoring Ohio women and preserving a fuller account of the state’s history for future generations.
Secretary LaRose visited the Auglaize County Fair to recognize local veterans and support the fair’s annual Veterans Dinner. He announced the winner of the “Favorite Veterans Commission Employee” election, toured the fairgrounds, and met with 4-H and FFA members.
At the Ohio State Fair, Secretary LaRose attended the Ronald McDonald House Celebrity Steer Show presented by the Ohio Cattlemen's Association. The Secretary spoke with many constituents about the vital role agriculture plays in powering Ohio’s economy and supporting our communities.
Secretary LaRose welcomed guests to ODNR Park at the Ohio State Fair and introduced Ohio native, wildlife educator, and “Brave Wilderness” host Coyote Peterson before Peterson took the stage to share stories from his adventures in the wild.
Congratulations to Lake County Board of Elections Director Dante Lewis and Preble County Board of Elections Director Lisa Boggs on their participation in The Ohio State University's 2026 Public Leadership Academy. During the program, Deputy Director of Regional Services and Public Leadership Academy alumnus Kenny Henning returned to speak with this year's class about election administration and the vital work Ohio's 88 county boards of elections do every day to serve voters.
