Become a Safe at Home Application Assistant

A Safe at Home Application Assistant is an employee or volunteer at an organization that supports survivors of:
Domestic violence
Human trafficking
Rape or sexual battery
Menacing by stalking
Their role is to help survivors apply for and join the Safe at Home program, as authorized under R.C. 11.41 and R.C. 111.42.
Training and Certification Requirements
To become an Application Assistant, you must complete training and certification through the Ohio Secretary of State’s office.
After completing the training and obtaining your supervisor’s approval, you may submit your application to become a certified Application Assistant.
The Secretary of State’s office has discretion and final determination on whether to certify an applicant. Certification is granted only to qualified individuals whose work aligns with the purpose and integrity of the Safe at Home program.
Program Eligibility and Participation
If you or your organization do not directly provide services to survivors, you can still:
Support the Safe at Home program through outreach and referrals.
Direct survivors to the resources available on the official website.
Offer compassionate and supportive conversations that encourage safety and awareness.
