Black Swamp Conservancy

Black Swamp Conservancy couldn’t be based anywhere else in the world. We exist to preserve this landscape and our rural heritage. Our community is fortunate to have unique natural habitats and globally important agricultural lands. We are proud to work to protect them.

Do you have a favorite place in Ohio?

Maybe it’s your grandparent’s farm where you played as a child. Or along the trails of your community park where you enjoy taking short hikes. It could even be your own back yard, where you relax and listen to shorebirds calling up from the lake or river.

Like you, we at Black Swamp Conservancy appreciate how the diversity of farmland, waterways, and natural areas makes Ohio special. We work hard to protect the unique landscapes found in our region.

Black Swamp Conservancy is northwest Ohio’s land trust, dedicated to preserving our family farms and natural habitats in perpetuity. To date, we protect more than 13,300 acres of land across 13 northwest Ohio counties – forever.

By protecting our valuable land and water resources, we are supporting healthy communities with strong, sustainable economies. Our work ensures the diverse habitats of our region will be protected for generations and that our children and their children will forever be able to enjoy this special place.

As a nonprofit organization we rely on the support of landowners, donors, and partnerships. We strive to be a wise investment for our supporters, whether they are giving us land, time, or money.
