Dogs 4 Warriors, Inc.

Through our mission these service dogs provide our Veterans with a new outlook on life, and the opportunity to participate in their family’s daily activities, community events, along with social reintegration. We’re able to provide a loyal “friend” to support their veteran through the difficult ups and downs in a life of continuing healing after combat.

Dogs 4 Warriors, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that utilizes rescue dogs to provide professionally trained service dogs at no cost to  Combat Veterans of all eras suffering from PTSD, TBI, and other combat related injuries. Founded and located just outside Bowerston, Ohio, Dogs 4 Warriors, Inc. is managed by its founder and CEO, Sheila Slezak, a Master Dog Trainer and behaviorist, who has been training Police K9's, Personal Protection Dogs for Senior Executives, Service Dogs, and Family Pets for over 30 years.

PTSD and TBI often cause the Veterans who return to feel like they are no longer able to face life. At Dogs 4 Warriors, Inc. they know that a service dog won’t fix everything but they also know that they will help mend the wounds. Each day, twenty two Veterans with PTSD, TBI, and other injuries find suicide as the only alternative to a life of suffering the effects of combat. The focus of Dogs 4 Warriors Inc. is to provide quality trained service dogs for these Veterans and improve the quality of life for those who have sacrificed everything for us.

Veterans need quality trained service dogs that can help them make it through the day with their loyalty, love and helping hand (paw). These dogs are trained for the specific needs of each Veteran and their situations. Dogs 4 Warriors, Inc. has dogs in training that have been privately donated or rescued from shelters. Once the dogs are accepted into the program they are then matched up with a Veteran based on the Veteran’s home life and personal needs. The dogs are then trained for tasks and commands specific to that Veteran. Each dog and veteran team then receive training together and any needed follow up training for the lifetime of that service dog. ALL of this is done at NO COST for the Veteran.
