Creating top of the line products and infusing the voice of the consumer into our footwear and apparel is crucial for our success. We believe the resources to build the right products for our markets of western, work, hunting and military are right here in Ohio. In Ohio we have access to all four seasons, an abundance of outdoor wildlife and adventures, a large number of equestrians and most importantly our employees who hold traditional Midwest values of honesty and hard work which are crucial to our business success.

Rocky Brands is the successor to the The Wm. Brooks Shoe Company, a company established in 1932. The business was sold in 1959 to a company headquartered in Lancaster, Ohio. In 1975, John W. Brooks formed John W. Brooks, Inc. as an Ohio corporation, reacquired the Nelsonville, Ohio, operating assets of the original company, and moved the business’ principal executive offices back to Nelsonville, Ohio – located in Athens County in the heart of Ohio’s Appalachian region.

In 2009, Rocky Brands’ Ohio employees created and funded the Rocky Community Improvement Fund. Its mission: To enhance the quality of life for the people of Nelsonville and surrounding communities by promoting philanthropy among Rocky Brands associates, building an endowment and awarding grants. To date, over $100,000 in grants has been awarded to local agencies and organizations that address issues of poverty, health, nutrition and education.

Rocky Brands’ most recent community contributions include construction of the first corporate-funded Habitat for Humanity home in Nelsonville and the donation of 400 pairs of military-grade boots for the Central Ohio Stand Down to help homeless veterans.
