WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT DOING BUSINESS IN OHIO?
Ohio has a great nurturing environment conducive to small business growth.
DESCRIPTION OF BUSINESS:
The idea to create JDT Concierge was born while David was transporting a car through Orangeburg, South Carolina on the way to Florida, in 2002. David and his wife, Jennifer now provide transportation services to various schools, senior citizens, airports, and corporate companies.
In response to the expansion of business and the addition of 18 employees, the Thorntons decided to contact the Minority Business Assistance Center. Working with Kim Asamoah Ansah, they developed marketing strategies, a business plan and a financial package.
"We enjoy giving back to our community," said David. David speaks to at-risk youth and encourages them to follow their dreams and aim for success. He also speaks to prison inmates about his positive experiences.
"Our message states that although one may come from a difficult background, they can still be successful. Whether it be providing transportation service or employing workers, helping one another around the community is important to us."
"The best advice we could recommend to upcoming entrepreneurs is that dreams do become reality, with hard work and persistence," said David. "There will always be struggles, but one must be willing to push through the hard times in order to reap the benefits.
