Spirit Avionics Ltd. is a veteran-owned, small business founded at Port Columbus airport. The company was started as a one-person operation by Rick Ochs in March of 2000. Now doing business as Spirit Aeronautics, the business is an FAA-approved aircraft services operation with specialization in aircraft electronics (avionics) systems, interior refurbishment, engineering, modifications and maintenance. Spirit Aeronautics is very versed in FAA and DOD airworthiness certification approvals for projects involving aircraft alterations supporting special mission operations.
Spirit operates in three hangars at KCMH with approximately 20,000 square feet of space used for business operations and employs more than 20 aviation professionals. Spirit Avionics Ltd. is an Authorized Service Facility for numerous aircraft component manufacturers including Garmin, Honeywell, Rockwell/Collins and many others.
The list of customers includes major regional and national corporations, the U.S. Military, NASA, FAA, NOAA and various other business aircraft operators.
