The thing that we love most about doing business in Ohio is the amazing people that live in our communities. The generous nature of the greater Youngstown area has provided us the opportunity continue to expand our programs to reach more and more children and families in need in Ohio.

Making Kids Count is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in the Mahoning Valley dedicated to serving the most vulnerable in our community. Their programs bring positive emotional experiences to children and their families by supporting everyday needs, boosting confidence and lifting spirits.

In 2010, Jenny Kennedy, the founder of Making Kids Count read an article about an organization across the country throwing birthday parties for children in homeless shelter. Inspired by her read, she approached her daughter, Shelly Marlowe, and daughter-in-law, Jana Coffin with an idea to bring a similar organization to Northeast Ohio. Together they formed Making Kids Count, whose mission is to make the lives of children and their families a little brighter by focusing on their individual needs with the help of volunteers. Jenny‚Äôs niece, Colleen Eisenbraun was added to the staff in 2012.

From their Diaper Bank to Comfort Kits, Making Kids Count offers different programs to help children ages 0-18. Two private donors fund administrative fees such as payroll, rent and utilities. This ensures that when donors give to Making Kids Count, 100% of their contributions are put toward children and families in need so they can be confident they are making a difference!
