File Formatting & Excel Template Instructions
The Secretary of State’s office designed its file format structure for state-level committees that have large numbers of contribution and expenditure records or already have these records in a database and are looking to export that data. Committees with fewer records may find it easier to enter them manually into the Campaign Finance Online Filing System (CFOFS).
The office has created a Microsoft Excel template to help users create a report that can be uploaded into CFOFS.
The template includes three spreadsheet tabs: contributions, expenditures, and loans/debts. Each requires you to enter data in a specific format described below. Each spreadsheet tab must be separately saved prior to uploading the report.
